Hiking / Climbing Mt Kinabalu (Hardcore) - Daypack ~~ Tips and preparation

Beberapa tips dan persedian untuk melakukan pendakian Gunung Kinabalu secara daytrip. This is one of the things I am gonna do for myself but I am just scared that Sabah Park wont allowed me do this since I am skinny, people might think that I would not capable to do Kinabalu daytrip. But I have confident with  myself, I know I can do it. I have to gain weight and workout more to build some muscle. InsyaAllah..

Trip           : Mount Kinabalu Low's Peak
Duration    : Whole day

Limitation  : Only 4 person allowed everyday

* Please take note that::

- Maximum Group Size of 4 Persons Only!
- Maximum One Day Climb Permit Available Per Day = Four (04) Permits Only.
- This route ascent and descent via Timpohon Trail
- Most suitable for those that are extremely fit and athletic
- This tour brings you to Low’s Peak Summit (4095.2M) in one day
- You are not required to stay overnight at Laban RataThis package allows you to travel light

- Hardcore climb permits are only released by the Sabah Park authority 1 week before your climb date. However we can arrange to pre-book for you in advance but there is no guaranteed confirmation given until 1 week before. Pre-booking hardcore climb permits with us allows a 80% chance for guaranteed confirmation.

Sample itinerary:

07:00hr Our guide will arrange for all necessary registrations, assign you a mountain guide and apply for your ID TAG.
Remember to wear your ID TAG at all times.
You'll then be transferred to starting point – Timpohon Gate – where your journey and quest to the summit of Borneo’s highest mountain begins!
The trek will pass by different vegetation zones from Oak and Chestnut to mossy and eventually to alpine type of vegetation.
Cut off time to reach Laban Rata rest house @ 3272m by 10 am.
Continue on passing by Sayat-Sayat Hut (final check point) and proceed on through the rock face plateau to summit the Low’s Peak @ 4095.2m by 1 pm.
After summit Low’s peak, you are allowed to stay for about 15 minutes before the descending back to the Timpohon Gate.
Congratulations, you can now collect your Certificate of Achievement!

Things You Should Prepare For Mountain Climb:

  • Waterproof backpack to store your items
  • Trekking or running shoe with good grip
  • Small towel
  • Disposable raincoats
  • Refillable water bottle (0.5 - 1 Litre)
  • High energy food such as chocolates, nuts, biscuits, sweets, energy bars
Things You Wish To Bring:

  • Medication such as headache tablets or altitude sickness tablets
  • Tissue paper / Toilet roll
  • Sun block lotion, lip gloss, plasters
  • Insect repellent / Mosquito Oil
  • Camera with water proof bag
  • Sandals / Slippers
  • Plastic bag

Important Note For All One Day HardCore Climbers:

1 Climbers MUST arrive Laban Rata Resthouse by 10:00hrs and Low's Peak Summit by 13:00hrs (Latest Cut-Off time).
* All time restrictions are given by Sabah Parks Authority which one day hardcore climbers have to comply.
2 Sabah Park Rescue Rangers have the final say on a situation should the summit climb (Laban Rata - Low's Peak) be cancelled due to bad weather or safety reasons, such refund will not be eligible.
3 Do take note that your passport will be required for verification during registration at the Kinabalu Park office. Please bring it along with you.
4 There are only four (04) one day climb permits issued by Sabah Parks Authority each day, therefore an early booking is recommended.
